When I started this page, I was working for a company that did customer service for a large shipping company. I'm not working there anymore, so it seems kinna silly to bitch about it, but I'm gonna do it anyway. The function of the job I had was to give customers callin in information about packages that they were either sending to someone or receiving from someone. Seems easy enough, right? Wrong. The job itself was easy enough.. jus punch in the customers tracking number, pull up the information and read it to the customer. Well, they weren't always satisfied with the infor I gave them. Well sorry people, that's the way it is. If I HAD more information, I would have given it to you. There is no way to know exactly where a package is at any particular second. It just isn't possible. It's not like we're hiding the info from you. We WANT to tell you if only to get you off our phone. And as much as you would want us to, customer service reps CANNOT.. i repeat CANNOT, get on a PLANE and find your package to get it there any sooner. Nor can they get on a truck, bus, train, or any other means of transportation to get this package to arrive any sooner. IT JUST CANNOT BE DONE!! It's boneheads like YOU that caused me to quit this job. And if I thought I could track you down and make a judge listen to me without having me committed, I'd sue you for the loss of the job and make YOU support me for the rest of my life. How does that sound??
The job I had before this one, was for a telecommunications company. I loved this job. It was awesome. Of course, except for the idiots that called up and wanted the impossible. Or thought they knew more then I did. People, they paid ME to know more then YOU! That's how it works. I admit, there were some, and I do mean "some" instances where I was dealing with someone who had been in the industry longer then I had and knew a bit more then I did.. but NOT MUCH MORE! And another thing, when a phone company has an outage, whether it be from systems problem or a fiber cut, or something else.. WE ARE WORKING ON IT! We don't jus tell people that, we ARE actually doin something about it. Do you have ANY idea what's involved in a fiber cut?? Millions of tiny fibers have to be spliced back together.. ya can't jus twist em and put a piece of electrical tape around it and say "OK, it's fixed!" It doesn't work that way. It takes hours to get something like that fixed and trust me, we ARE doin it as quickly as possible. We don't jus tell people THAT either.
Another thing, which basically goes for any customer service rep.. SCREAMING at someone, or using foul language DOESN'T mean you are gonna get what you want. In fact, it jus pisses us off even more and pretty much guarantees you won't get ANYTHING, except maybe a convo with Mr Dialtone. And asking for a manager right off the bat.. that doesn't work either. That jus pisses the manager off and you're SURE to NOT get what you want..the reps are there to help. If you don't like what they have to say, then don't use they're service.. it's as simple as that.
That's about all for now.. until I get another job and bitch about that one.
